Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe World Cup 2011 live cricket score highlights, SL 106. Dilshan and Tharanga have given a boost to the team in the very beginning of the game.
PALLEKELE, Sri Lanka: After 17 runs, Sri Lankan cricket team has already scored 106 runs with Dilshan scoring 63 runs while Tharanga has scored 40 runs.
The ferocious and fast scoring has slowed down right now and the two batsmen who look well set, seem to have snatched the initiative from Zimbabwe cricket team that had won the loos.
As Sri Lanka readies to take on bigwigs in the World Cup 2011, its vice-captain Mahela Jayawardene said on Wednesday that team is yet to peak. The 1996 champions are the favorite and they landed at the WC with a dream to win the title for the second time. Their match against Zimbabwe is of importance. It is understood that they would like to win it with a huge margin so that they can reserve a place in the quarter finals.
Till now Lankans have been able to collect five points from four games. They have won the two games, lost one against Pakistan and the match against Australia was washed up because of the rain. This time they are ready to fire against the Zimbabwean. It appears that the late inclusion of
Lasith Malinga in the team has energized the players.
Mahela is all praise for the pacer who took a hat-trick in the match against Canada. He said: "Lasith coming back into the team has given us a few more options in our bowling attack which is great. I think we can still improve on our batting, try to bat for longer periods and make sure we build partnerships. Even on the field there is always room to improve. We are a very hard-working side when it comes to fielding. We just have to keep improving and make sure we make the most of half-chances." But the Sri Lankans are not taking this match lightly as they are well ready to face Zimbabwe.
