The first half of the ICC World Cup 2011 has belonged to Pakistan. Till now they have come out unblemished in the series. They have succeeded in showcasing a rocking performance that even their fans are surprised. The credit for this stellar performance of the team goes to Pakistan Captain and fast leg spinner Shahid Afridi.

He has led from the front and has won matches singlehandedly. Fans still remember the Pakistan and Canada clash in which after being out on a low score they were looking colorless as the minnows were cruising towards the set target with ease.
It was at this time that Afridi put a brake on their progress. He took four wickets and had turned the table on his tormentors Canada, pulling out a good win. Though he is not been able to do the talk with his bat but in the bowling department he has been extremely good by mixing the googly with pace and slow balls.
Right now he is the leading wicket taker ahead of other full time bowlers, claiming 14 wickets from three matches. In the match against Sri Lanka also he had struck at the right time when the team bowlers were struggling to take wickets of well-settled Lankan batters. Till now he has done nothing wrong.

In all the three matches that Pakistan has won, Afridi has succeeded in bagging the man of the match award. In 15 years of his cricket journey Afridi has matured as a bowler. It is another story that he had made his debut as a hard-hitter batsman.
With 300 wickets in his kitty he has turned out to be a skilled bowler. Misbah-ul-Haq, Afridi's deputy and Pakistan's in-form batsman, said on Monday: "Afridi is a difficult bowler to handle.
He has variation, especially in these conditions, he is gripping the ball well and it's tough for batsmen to guess where the ball will go, how much it will drift. But other players are also required to play well and take pressure off the captain.
